Reviews editor Michael Calore and staff writer Nathan Olivarez-Giles both got their hands on the new Chromebook Pixel, a $1,300 premium notebook with a high-resolution touchscreen display. It runs Chrome OS like its cheaper sub-$300 brethren, but it is made entirely by Google, and, of course, it is a high-end machine. The Pixel features a 3:2 aspect ratio (the better for web browsing, they say), 2560 x 1700 pixel resolution display. Inside, an Intel Core i5 processor keeps things chugging along super smoothly.

The latest addition to the Chromebook lineup, announced Thursday, went up for pre-order the same day, but won’t ship until early April. Thus far, we’re really impressed with the hardware and its performance, but the price tag is definitely hard to swallow. Keep your eyes peeled for a full review of the Pixel in the coming weeks.
