Behind-the-Scenes Game of Thrones Video Explores Iceland as Setting for 'Beyond the Wall'

The latest production video from the set of Game of Thrones comes from Iceland, where it's cold/pretty. Also Orell is there.

Making Game of Thrones: Intensity of IcelandLast week HBO released an amazing – and gorgeous – set of new character photos from season 3 of Game of Thrones, but one of the show's new faces sadly missing from that batch was that of Mackenzie Crook, who will be playing the wildling Orell. Thanks to the show's latest production video, we now have a chance to see him in action.

By "see him in action" we mean "see him freeze his butt off in (presumably) his Orell costume in the wilds of Iceland," which – in case you're wondering – everyone in this behind-the-scenes clip (above) agrees is "cold" and "beautiful."

"The landscape is so otherworldly, it's like you're on a different planet," Crook, who you may remember as Ragetti from the Pirates of the Caribbean films, and from the British version of The Office.

The Icelandic setting is all part of keeping it real on the fantasy-drama series. Having real icicles form on real beards and being able to see each character's breath is what makes things Beyond the Wall look legit – no matter what the cost. "We'd rather spend the money on the locations, than the VFX," says creator David Benioff. But the limiting five hours of daylight in each 24-hour cycle means a lot has to get done in a very short amount of time.

Beyond cast and crew discussing how freezing and pretty the landscape is, there's no footage from the upcoming third season. However, stick around until the end to catch just a bit of shooting and the bone-chilling moment when Mance Rayder (Ciaran Hinds) says, "When the long night comes, north of The Wall becomes the kingdom of the dead."

Guys. Is it March yet?
