For those that don't know, director Marc Webb began shooting his sequel to The Amazing Spider-Man in New York a few days ago, and now we have an official plot synopsis for the flick, which basically lets us know that, once again, Peter Parker will be dealing with the rigors of balancing love for Gwen Stacy, being a scrawny hero, and, you know, graduating high school.
From the plot announcement (via /Film):
That seems interesting enough, but if you read closely it's just saying that some people are in this film and that they have conflicts to overcome – very few other details about the script (from Fringe dream-team Alex Kurtzman/Roberto Orci/Jeff Pinkner) emerge. There's also no information about Paul Giamatti's character – the actor is listed as being part of the production, and the rumor is that he'll be playing Aleksei Sytsevich aka The Rhino, but nothing is mentioned about his involvement. (Shailene Woodley is also listed with the cast, and is the presumed Mary Jane Watson, but nothing is mentioned about her either.)
So, to sum up: The Amazing Spider-Man 2 is filming. Cool people are in it doing (presumably) cool things. These are not the details you were looking for. But it is early, there is still a lot of time between now and the time Amazing Spider-Man 2 is finished, let alone hits theaters. Between now and then there is a lot of time for new juicy details to emerge.
The Amazing Spider-Man 2 is slated for release May 2, 2014.
