As a firm believer that it's never too early to expose your kids to rock and roll classics, I was very excited to see that Rockabye Baby Music, who takes the music of popular artists and turns them into mellotron-and-xylophone instrumental lullabies for kids, is getting ready to release a collection of Rush songs. Certainly, if you ever find yourself lying awake, staring out at the bleakness of Megadon, perhaps a soothing, melodic version of the 2112 overture might be the thing to help you and your newborn from the edge of sleep, instead of drifting half the night.
Rockabye Baby: Lullaby Renditions of Rush, which releases at the end of this month, will feature a dozen Rush songs including "Limelight," "The Spirit of the Radio," "Tom Sawyer," and "Subdivisions." While a few of those might seem to be a little fast tempo for lullabies, the conversions are really quite soothing. Since 2006, Rockabye Baby has turned everything from Nine Inch Nails to The Smiths into soothing bedtime music. The Rockabye Baby: Lullaby Renditions of Rush album can be found at Amazon and iTunes.
