Everyone has their own idea of a dream hotel. For some it might be a palace in Paris or New York, for others a beach resort in Thailand or the Bahamas. But for the geeks... especially the Lego geeks, there can only be one place, and it is opening soon: the new Lego Hotel at Legoland California.
I had the chance to visit the park back in the fall of 2010, right after I proposed to my wife, with an actual Lego-made ring. The staff at the park was extremely friendly and quick to react on the ring, giving us exclusive access to all kind of features and facilities of the park. They truly made it a great experience for us. I can only now imagine how even better that experience could have been if we could have extended the stay at the park, by spending few nights in the Lego-made palace.
This project is about to be completed and ready to open its doors on April 5 of this year. The hotel is obviously furnished with countless references to the 8-stud brick but also with the brick itself. The rooms are categorized per theme: Pirate theme, Adventure theme and Kingdom theme. All rooms come in two types, regular or premium, depending on the type of comfort chosen, or the amount of Lego bricks in them maybe?
Every room is filled with Lego sculptures and other reminders of the geekiest toy ever invented, just like the rest of the hotel covered with such details. I am not sure whether the staff has to keep track of missing pieces in every room, but I bet that Lego bricks might start disappearing faster than bathrobes...
The price per night may not come cheap, but again ticking a box on your childhood most desired list is priceless.
I certainly hope to be able to spend a night at the hotel real soon, but until then the real question remains, where is the Star Wars room?
