The X40 from Nexx can toggle between full-face and open-face with the removal of the chin guard and face shield. But it's the ergonomics that make this lid exceptional. Most new helmets are equally protective, but the X40's carbon-fiber shell saves precious ounces to prevent neck fatigue.
The aerodynamics kept my head stable, even when leaning out to check the blind spot. When the unbreakable Lexan face shield fogged up, a single glove-handed swipe flipped open four air vents on top. The upper edge of the viewport was barely noticeable in a racing tuck, and the peripheral visibility was aces for switching lanes.
