To celebrate this next chapter in America’s history, Disney Education Productions has launched an iPad app celebrating America’s Presidents: The American Presidents Oval Office Scrapbook, a dynamic, interactive journey through all 44 presidents. Page through the digital scrapbook and enjoy facts, music, and videos that educate, celebrate and sometimes poke lighthearted fun at these great leaders (such as calling John Quincy Adams “Fancypants” when compared to the much-less-sophisticated Andrew Jackson).

The iPad app is available through the iTunes store and currently retails for $3.99.
The 5-6 minute video animated vignettes about each of the presidents come from the 2010 4-volume DVD set, The American Presidents. In addition to those 44 videos that are also seen in the iPad app, each DVD can be used in a Mac or PC and offers the “interactive Whiteboard”, featuring tests of the information presented on the DVDs and iPad apps.
Each of the four DVDs also has a 10-15 minute video covering more timeless topics that have impacted our presidents: the economy, the history of the office of the U.S. President, evolution of civil rights, and the presidency in wartime.
My sons really enjoyed the DVDs along with the companion interative iPad app — my older son said “There are a lot of cool facts…and actually, it’s pretty funny too!” This is a great addition to a homeschooling Mom’s library for kids in grades 3-7, and can also augment the library of any child who craves to know more about the head of our Executive Branch.
You can purchase the DVDs directly through Disney Educational Productions for an MSRP of $119.99 for the full set or $29.99 for each of the individual volumes.
