Only in the world of YouTube can the Enterprise travel to Equestria.
With “My Little Trek Into Darkness” (above) YouTuber FFF1987RETURNS continues the grand tradition of remixing movie trailers with images from My Little Pony Friendship Is Magic by using the voiceover from the recent Star Trek Into Darkness trailer to make a slightly different drama for the ponies from the show.
In this version of the trailer, James T. Kirk is played by Twilight Sparkle, Pavel is Applejack, Spock is Fluttershy, and Nyota Uhura is Rainbow Dash. And so on. Oh, and the mysterious villain played by Benedict Cumberbatch in J.J. Abrams’ movie is here played by King Sombra, which is kind of funny since Sombra does have a certain Smoke Monster quality. (Anyone out there have a Lost version of this trailer?) It’s actually pretty good casting, considering the similarities between ponies and members of the crew of the Enterprise are so few.
