Disney XD just announced the season two premiere date for its hit series, Ultimate Spider-Man. However, if you blink during the January 21 debut, you could miss something really cool.
Marvel will launch a series of interstitials titled, Marvel Comics Close-Up. The series of shorts are designed to encourage kids to read, by offering viewers an insider peek at 10 different comics. Some of the titles to be featured will include Ultimate Spider-Man #7, Invincible Iron Man #7, Hulk #3, Thor #364 and Marvel Adventures Spider-Man #16.
Hosted by Marvel Chief Creative Officer Joe Quesada and Disney star Dylan Riley Snyder (Kickin' It), Marvel Comics Close-Up will debut during the January 21 premiere of Ultimate Spider-Man on Disney XD. As an added incentive, the network will also offer free digital Marvel comics on the network's website.
Marvel's Ultimate Spider-Man will swing into its second season with a two-part premiere featuring The Lizard and Electro. The action begins Monday, January 21 at 7:00 p.m. (ET/PT) on Disney XD. New episodes will then air every Sunday at 11:00 a.m.
Ultimate Spider-Man ranked as Disney XD's top animated show for 2012, across the board of boys' demographics. The show features the voices of Drake Bell, Chi McBride, Clark Gregg, J.K. Simmons and Steven Weber. Stan Lee is also a recurring guest star.
