By way of a holiday gift, I've compiled below a list of the Beyond Apollo posts closely related to the Apollo Program. For many people, space exploration began and ended with Apollo. That is, of course, an ill-informed opinion, but I understand the appeal of that program, which drew to a close 40 years ago this month. It was, after all, Apollo 8's 10 lunar orbits on Christmas Eve 1968, 44 years ago today, that turned me on to spaceflight (along with the evocative film 2001: A Space Odyssey, which I had viewed only a few months before). Apollo 8 was America's first voyage to the moon; Apollo 17 (image above) was its last. Only four years separated those two missions.
