Who better to help us understand what we just experienced than Terence Samuel, deputy political editor of The Washington Post?
In this episode of the Storyboard podcast, Samuel talks to Wired senior editor Adam Rogers about the unique challenges of political reporting. Samuel, who also wrote the book The Upper House: A Journey Behind the Closed Doors of the U.S. Senate, enjoys digging into the issues as much as the next wonk. But what really kept him coming back to the campaign trail year after year is his love of the game.
The horse race, he says, “quite frankly, is fun.” But unlike the candidates, the reporters don’t get much of a break — Sen. Marco Rubio, a Florida Republican whose been mentioned as a possible contender for 2016, has already made his first appearance in Iowa, and Samuel’s team is out there with him.
