We all have our favorite incarnation of Star Trek. However, there are those times when you have to wonder, “What would James T. Kirk say?” Well, now you can have William Shatner speak for you, via a new app called Shatoetry.

Designed for the iPhone, iPod touch and iPad, Shatoetry invites users to mix and match a library of pre-recorded words to create their own “Shatisms,” which are then played back in the former Enterprise captain’s voice.

Once you choose what you want Shatner to say, you can also vary the way he says it. That’s because each word has been recorded three different ways and there are options to include some of his oh-so-dramatic pauses. After you’ve created something special, just hit the “Shat that!” button, and you’ll have the option to save your creation, send it via email, or post it to YouTube, Facebook or Twitter.

The Shatoetry app also has a co-op mode, where multiple users can collaborate on one Shatism through the app or via an online mode.

Shatner says that he’s worked for more than a year on the project, in conjunction with Blindlight Apps. The Shatoetry app is available now at the iTunes App Store, for $2.99. Blindlight Apps says that users can also expect updates in the near future, which will include word packs for holidays and special occasions, performance contributions from special guest stars, and other “surprises.”
