Perhaps the quintessential cautionary geek tale, Steven Spielberg's movie version of Jurassic Park was just about perfect when it came out twenty years ago. Filled with insatiable, gender-bending, carnivorous dinosaurs, disemboweled lawyers keeling over on tiki toilets, and not nearly enough Jeff Goldblum (who played sublimely-sexy chaos theorist Ian Malcolm), Jurassic Park was solid, bone-crunching family fun.
Twenty years later, it's fun that has been made even better through the magic of 3-D and IMAX – because, yeah, that scene where Jeff Goldblum is sitting in the back of that jeep as that t-rex bears down upon him in a snarling mass of teeth and claws and potential anguish just. wasn't. intense enough...
