The smartphone game is about three things. Network, apps and display. Right now, HTC is killing it in the display department.
On Tuesday, the company announced its new flagship handset, the Droid DNA. The phone barrels through the Android churn with the highest density display in the U.S. market, a 5-inch 1920x1080 HD display that sports 440 ppi (pixels per inch). To put that into perspective, the iPhone 5 has a pixel density of 326 ppi. So yeah, this is more.
In addition to cramming a ton of pixels into a tiny area, the display uses Gorilla Glass 2 for protection and LCD 3 technology to deliver an 80-degree viewable range, according to HTC. So it's less likely to break into a million pieces when you show your friends you can watch a video at an 80-degree angle.
HTC shoved a S4 Pro quad-core 1.5Ghz processor and 2GB of RAM into the Android 4.1.1 (Jelly Bean) phone. And because it's HTC, it has Beats Audio for all your jams. The LTE-enabled Droid DNA will be available November 21 from Verizon.
