Disney Decks the Lineup with Holiday-Themed Episodes

Now that Thanksgiving is officially over, it's really beginning to look a lot like Christmas -- on TV, anyway. Expect Disney to have plenty of holiday-themed programming in December.

Now that the Thanksgiving festivities are officially over, it's really beginning to look a lot like Christmas – on TV, anyway. Over the weekend, tons of Christmas-themed TV shows started filling my channel lineup. If you missed some of them, just know that Disney will start spreading some holiday cheer as soon as the calendar flips over to December.

On Sunday, December 2, the Disney Channel will kick off its second annual "Fa-la-la-lidays" programming event. That means you can expect Christmas-themed episodes of Good Luck Charlie, Dog With A Blog, and Shake It Up, starting at 7:30 p.m. ET/PT on the cable network.

Disney XD plans to join the party the very next night, with 90 minutes' worth of Christmas-themed episodes on Monday, December 3. Randy Cunningham: 9th Grade Ninja will pose as a Ninja Santa at 7:00 p.m. ET/PT, in the not-so-snuggly-sounding episode, "Silent Punch, Deadly Punch." That short will be followed by Pair of Kings' "Yeti, Set, Snow" and Kickin' It, which has Jack, Jerry and Milton getting the lead elf banned from the mall in the episode "Oh, Christmas Nuts!"

A week later, we'll start seeing some programming that's more geared towards the wee ones. On December 7, the Disney Channel is going to debut winter-themed episodes of Doc McStuffins and Jake and the Never Land Pirates. I’m especially excited to see how Jake and his cute crew will work in a special appearance by Rhys Darby (Flight of the Conchords).

Later that night, Austin & Ally and Jessie will combine forces (and casts) at 8:00 p.m. ET/PT, in a special hour-long episode titled, "Austin & Jessie & Ally All Star New Year." That is going to pave the way for brand-new back-to-back episodes of Phineas and Ferb. The hit show's fourth season kicks off at 9:00 p.m. with "For Your Ice Only" and an appearance by retired NHL superstar Luc Robitaille, followed by the boys making their own customized multi-dimensional ball for the holiday episode "Happy New Year!"

I can pretty much recite Charlie Brown, Frosty and several other Christmas classics at this point. Of course, I won't miss any of those this year, but it's nice to have a few other holiday-themed options to mix things up. Happy holiday viewing, everyone!
