I like a company that is prepared to test the quality of their product and post it on YouTube like these folks have done (see below). And, I like this iPad case. I've had several iPad cases aimed specifically at the toddler market come through my hands. Some I've written about, others I haven't. Usually I don't because it is an offering for all those commenters who want to say "Why would you give your toddler a turn on an expensive device like that anyway" an easy opportunity. (If you are one of those, feel free to head to the comment section now.)
Most casings and covers designed to protect devices from young children seem to focus on hard cases that are robust and strong and protect using the strength of the material. Clumsy Case by Studio Proper protects using soft foam. It protects using the way the material can handle any impact through absorption. Of course, it isn't perfect: any case for a touchscreen device needs to give you access to the touchscreen and it can still get grubby with squashed banana or exposed to a place where a toddler could throw the screen into the corner of a table. But, ultimately, Clumsy Case is a favorite at my house now.
I like it for the following reasons:
- It looks like the ghosts from Pac-Man (and this feature also helps it to stand up)
- The sponginess makes the case playful and nice to touch for toddlers, it adds to the playfulness of the touchscreen.
- It isn't too expensive and seems like a clever little design.
The Clumsy Case is $39.95 and available online from Studio Proper.
Note: The reviewer received a Clumsy Case for review purposes, so he could also throw his iPad against a brick wall.
