A Lego Frankenstein monster, a werewolf, and a zombie? Yes, please! In the Monster Fighter series, these mini-figures and more come to life in various frightening scenes. My son, Evan, and I recently had the chance to try out the Crazy Scientist & His Monster set and thought it was pretty darned cool. (Although really, is there such a thing as a Lego fail? I think not.)
The first item of note for me was the mad professor. Look at that hair! And hello, Frankenstein! The peg-legged, bowler hat minifig made Evan ask about the time period for this set, so we were able to work in a bit of history while we built. Maybe he'll even be inspired to read Mary Shelley's Frankenstein.
Evan, the official Lego expert in this household felt that the set had more play features than other sets he's put together recently, so score one for Lego. The gearing system that operates the flashing light on the laboratory especially impressed him. I thought the moveable laboratory table was just perfect for a little monster mash complete with laser beams and brain tingling experiments.
When it was time to put together the car, Evan suggested that we make a stop motion video of the process, so he built and I manned the camera.
