Horrible Hauntings: Creepy Interactive Book

I am, admittedly, an old school book reader. Apps and e-books just don't interest me. However, when Horrible Hauntings showed up on my doorstep courtesy of Goosebottom Books, I was intrigued. The book features single page ghost stories opposite a full page image. There are ten legends in all, including the famous princes in the tower, Abraham Lincoln, and the headless horseman. All make a ghostlike appearance on the page when you download the free Horrible Hauntings app from Google Play or the Apple App Store (there's a QR code included in the book to make it easy).

My 17-year-old pulled out his iPod Touch to check it out after reading the first story. His immediate reaction: "Well, that's pretty awesome." By holding the iPod above the full page image, he was able to "search" for ghosts that then appeared on his iPod screen. Some of the ghosts are interactive; our favorite, though, was the Whalley Abbey page. The ghosts of four monks appear to pray and move about in a courtyard. By tilting the iPod we were able to view the monks as if we were right there with them. While I'm not ready to give up my old-fashioned books just yet, this Luddite was pretty impressed.
