Dakster Sullivan has a relaxing weekend planned that includes a Disney on Ice media event, Chuck E. Cheese with friends, and a Sunday full of relaxing and watching her favorite movie, You've Got Mail. She also plans to get the Florida Garrison's blog up and running with some new material. Afterwards, a nap might be in order.
After a week visiting friends and family in Colorado, Dinah McLean is looking forward to a weekend clearing out her DVR and prepping it for new fall TV shows. (After all, parents have to have something to watch while laundering piles of tiny little superhero and Star Wars T-shirts.)
Nicole Wakelin is hoping the rain holds off because it's apple picking time in New England! There will be apple pie, apple crisp, apple jelly, apple tarts, apple everything!
Kris Bordessa is expecting a visit from her favorite cousin this week. They'll be hitting the beach, exploring cultural sites, and making a road trip to Hawaii Volcanoes National Park. In the midst of preparing for her guest, she's gotten wind that there might be another Cuusoo project in the works from her youngest.
Rachel Cericola spent the week buried by paperwork – literally. She promises several wonderful articles next week. Currently, she's getting ready to lose her long(ish) locks for a weekend wedding and is excited at the prospect of wearing something else besides sweatpants.
Sophie is both looking forward to and nervous about her son starting pre-school next week, which is quite silly as he's been happily attending daycare two days a week since he was six months old. She's also suddenly realized that she has less than two weeks to organize his birthday party and only a month to complete her "Read 25 Books Whilst I'm 25" challenge. Feel free to comment on her personal blog to motivate/shout at her. Oh, and she also received an awesome sketch of Mulder, Scully, and the Cigarette Smoking Man on vacation in Disney World this week – drawn by none other than Dean Haglund (that's Langley from The Lone Gunmen)! The sketch was a Kickstarter perk for backing Dean's upcoming graphic novel, she even got to choose what he drew.
Rebecca Angel has filled in her calendar and now is quite twitchy because it's always too much. However, her children are happy to be taking art classes, singing in choirs, hanging with friends, and somehow having time for schoolwork. Rebecca plans to drive them around everywhere and still have time to work on her writing and music. This month she will be singing at Wine, Women and Song, an event to raise money for breast cancer.
Kelly Knox is clinging to the last warm days of summer. Has she mentioned that it rains most of the year in Seattle? She's also trying to get an early start to Halloween costume planning but will likely chicken out in the end.
Kristen Rutherford is on hiatus from The Nerdist. She's done with working for Lucasfilm for Star Wars Celebration VI. She had a successful first time at school experience with her daughter, with a minimal amount of crying. (Okay, that's a lie, she totally bawled.) She is planning her daughter's third birthday party for this weekend (faeries faeries faeries), and gearing up for the next Geek & Sundry #parent hangout this Tuesday night. After that's over, she is going to sit and stare at the wall for a bit, if you don't mind... #burnt is more like it...
Patricia had an amazing time at Dragon*Con last weekend. She was daring enough to take the kids along and they also had a wonderful time. She looks forward to going again one day without the kids, so she can catch at the more grown-up panels and activities. Her (and GeekMom Mandy's) family cosplay even made it to CNN's Geek Out! blog about the Dragon*Con parade (see Slide 5). She had no idea how much attention an Incredibles family would bring. Alas, now it's back to normal life. Look for her Dragon*Con Diary posts over the next two weeks.
