Can you believe that The Princess Bride is turning 25? It seems inconceivable. It can't be that old, (partially because that would be admitting that I'm that old). It's one of those movies that just has a timelessness to it. The costumes are simple. The makeup is visible on the actors' faces when you look for it. The sets don't pretend to be anything but simple backdrops to tell the story, and yet the video game in the opening sequence is about the only thing that really dates the movie.
I carried a copy of The Princess Bride with me on DVD when I labored in the hospital with both of my kids. It's just one of those movies that you can watch over and over. Now that my own princess is ten, it's one of her favorites as well.
