We are huge book geeks here. Our house is littered with piles and stacks of books. To be read, recently read, to pass on to a friend, to return to the library (hopefully before they're due), classics, comics, historical fiction, how-to tomes, fantasy, and biographies. We pretty much love 'em all.
When the folks at Out of Print asked if I'd like to check out their t-shirts featuring cover art from out of print books, you can imagine my answer. Shirts! With books on them! Yes, please. Squeeing ensued when the shirts arrived. The tags? They look like old school library check out cards. Brilliant.
My son immediately snagged the Lord of the Flies and The Maltese Falcon shirts for himself. (In fact, receiving The Maltese Falcon t-shirt prompted him to pick up the book and read it, so score one for Out of Print!) They've become his favorite shirts, not only because he likes the graphics on them but because they're comfortable. He's told me several times - unprompted - how well the shirts fit and how soft they are. "And you know mom, there are some other cool ones on their site," he hints.
He's right. Nancy Drew and The Sign of the Twisted Candles, Harry the Dirty Dog, Mike Mulligan and His Steam Shovel, and Jane Eyre are just a few of the options that are available on t-shirts for men, women, and children, as well as on stationery, tote bags, and other accessories. I regret not asking to try the women's shirts, so I could report on their fit, but I've got 1984 on my wish list. Maybe I'll update when I've had a chance to wear it. I can say that the graphics on the shirts seem to be of good quality and have made it through the laundry a number of times already without any visible wear.
If you're an Amazon shopper, you'll be happy to note that Out of Print items are available via that avenue as well. Out of Print provided shirts for review. Each Out of Print purchase makes possible the donation of one book to a community in need through Books For Africa.
