Dell tech support specialists working into the evening on Monday night got a nasty surprise when an unidentified shooter opened fire on their offices, hitting three windows on the first three floors of Building Seven on Dell's campus in Round Rock, Texas.
A witness told police that the shots came from an unidentified suspect riding a bicycle, according to Dee Carver, public information officer with the Round Rock Police.
Although police showed up within minutes of the 9:30 p.m. shooting and eventually mounted a helicopter search, Carver says that no one was arrested, and police don't have a motive in the shooting.
Dell is helping with the ongoing investigation, Carver said: "We're working with them to see if we can identify someone and find out who did this."
The shots came from a trail that runs behind building seven, said David Frink, a Dell spokesman. They were heard by members of a small tech support team that was working in the building that night, he added.
This isn't the first time police have rushed to the Dell Campus with reports of shots fired. Last year, the Round Rock SWAT team descended on the campus after a Dell sales executive decided to, er, fire up staffers about the company's Dell Streak tablet by donning a trench coat and ski mask and marching into the company's offices brandishing one in each hand.
Dell's Bryan Chester and his manager, Daniel Rawson, were arrested following the incident, but those charges were later dropped.
