Mountain Lion Update Tackles Issues With Messages, Exchange Server

Apple pushed the first update to Mountain Lion this morning. The 10.8.1 update is sure to make those who rely on Exchange email happy, and according to Apple fixes issues with Messages not actually sending messages.

Apple pushed the first update to Mountain Lion this morning. The 10.8.1 update is sure to make those who rely on Exchange email happy, with improvements in how Mail connects to Exchange servers. It also reportedly addresses the occasional issue of Messages not actually sending messages.

According to Apple, the 24MB update will deliver the following enhancements:

-- Resolve an issue that may cause Migration Assistant to unexpectedly quit

-- Improve compatibility when connecting to a Microsoft Exchange server in Mail

-- Address an issue playing audio through a Thunderbolt display

-- Resolve an issue that could prevent iMessages from being sent

-- Address an issue that could cause the system to become unresponsive when using Pinyin input

-- Resolve an issue when connecting to SMB servers with long names

-- Address a issue that may prevent Safari from launching when using a Proxy Automatic Configuration (PAC) file

-- Improve 802.1X authentication with Active Directory credentials.

The update is available via the Mac App Store or directly downloaded from the Apple support page.
