Pop music is terribly dull fare. That point is aptly made in vissagan's pop mashup above. Before he made that video, he observed what many people have been grousing about for years: Pop music is *YAWN*. And after a while, all the songs kinda sound the same.
Take things a step further and pop music commentary itself can be improved by judicious remixing, as shown by songstowearpantsto's creative mash-up. He sampled every use of the words 'club,' 'hands,' 'party,' and every time alcohol was mentioned in the lyrics of the top 10 pop songs of 2010. The result is sadly telling. But taken at face value, the remix turned out to be greater than its parts.

Even political commentary set to music can surpass snooze music. I mean, pop music. Take schmoyoho's viral songification, "Get Money, Turn Gay," for example.

For those who don't care for commentary, PBS's remix of Mr. Rogers' Neighborhood shows that it's actually possible to find a song buried in the scripts of one of the sleepiest shows known to television that's better than any song on the Billboard charts.

Bottom line: All remixing aside, I'd still rather listen to a short, adorable indie original about a short, adorable turtle eating a raspberry than almost anything playing on the radio.
