Epic Games lifted the curtain on Fortnite, its upcoming cooperative survival-horror game for the PC, at Comic-Con on Thursday.

Fornite, which was first revealed at the Spike TV Video Game Awards in December, will be the first game to utilize Epic's Unreal Engine 4. It will be available in 2013.

Epic Games showed the new engine to Wired in May.

Fortnite seems to take many elements from Minecraft: Players can scavenge for building materials and useful items in the daytime, then use those gathered pieces to construct and improve a fortress. Once night arrives, so do monsters, which players have to fend off.

Epic claims that the game will feature a "dynamic and expanding world," but is not quite ready to give out details on how that will work.

It may be a while before players get their hands on Fortnite, but it'll be interesting to see what innovations the Gears of War team can bring to the genre.
