The fine folks who made Browncoats: Redemption, a Firefly fan film for charity, is now taking on the zombie genre with Z*Con. But Z*Con needs help to become a reality, so the movie's creators, Big Damn Films, have turned to Kickstarter.
Browncoats: Redemption was a one of a kind film in that it was blessed by the studio who made Firefly as well as Joss Whedon. This was in part because all the money from the sales from the movie went to five different charities. After one year, Browncoats: Redemption raised over $117,000 for charity. Now working in the zombie genre, Z*Con hopes to be another great film that will raise even more money for charity.
Z*Con is the story of four teens who are attending a comic book convention and become trapped during a zombie apocalypse. It is a horror story but it is also a comedy. It is described on the Kickstarter page as "like Goonies meets Shaun of the Dead set in…well….a comic convention.". If you are interested in learning more, check out the Z*Con Kickstarter page. You can also go to their webpage to nominate your favorite charity to benefit from the money made from this film.
