Who's up for a GeekMom workout?

I can’t use the excuse that it’s baby weight anymore since my son is quickly approaching age three. I lost weight for a while, and then quickly gained it back as my routine fell into chasing my son and helping in my daughter’s kindergarten class, instead of taking 30 minutes a day to help myself be healthy enough to keep up with the two little balls of energy.

I’m also a carb-o-holic. Give me a bagel slathered in cream cheese or a piece of banana bread with melted butter and I’m in heaven. Unfortunately, it also goes straight to what used to a decade ago be a flat tummy.

These habits have drained me of my energy. My husband and I have tried joining a gym, and I’ve tried getting together locally with friends to work out. Good efforts normally fail due to schedules that are just too crazy to match up.

This is where all you wonderful readers come in! I’m looking for a few good buddies to join FatSecret (It’s free – and there is an app for that!) to keep track of food and exercise and encourage each other to keep up on it. There is a new group there called GeekMom's GeekWorkOut. There, I hope we can encourage each other to reach our goals, and be healthy. We will even do little fun geeky exercise challenges (workout with your favorite motion controlled videogame platform, zombie run, make up a routine with your kids, etc.)

If you are wondering, "why did she choose FatSecret, I already use MyFitnessPal?" Well, the answer is simple. I have an Android phone. When I first used FatSecret it was the only app that allowed me to add food to my diary by scanning a barcode. If you download the app, be sure to get it from the Google store and not Amazon because the Amazon version does not include the barcode scanning feature.

I can’t wait to see you all on FatSecret. Let’s work together to be healthy geeks!
