BioWare will release "Extended Cut," an expanded ending sequence for Mass Effect 3, on June 26 for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC, it said Friday.

On its official blog, BioWare wrote that the 1.9 GB of Extended Cut sequences will expand on the game's ending, but not alter the existing one. It promises to "show greater detail in the successes or failures based on how players achieved their endings." BioWare answered more questions about the DLC in a 10-minute audio interview with key employees.

The move is a response to negative fan feedback about the role-playing game's original ending sequence, which fans thought was too short and didn't provide enough closure to the three-game science fiction trilogy. One group of fans donated $53,000 to charity in hopes of convincing BioWare to alter Mass Effect 3's ending.
