Observation Deck on the Time-Warping Power of Skyscrapers
With the announcement of the completion of a new, almost-record-breaking tower in Tokyo, this week Observation Deck is focusing on the appeal of skyscrapers. Sure, super-tall buildings probably have cogent economic and aesthetic reasons to exist, but there’s also something simply remarkable about the mere fact of standing that far off the ground. It was true at the top of the World Trade Center towers, and it’s probably even more true at the top of the Burj Khalifa, the half-mile high building in Dubai.
