Saturday, May 12th, is National Train Day. Established to fall on our about the anniversary of the completion of America's first transcontinental railroad in 1869, National Train Day celebrates rail travel and the fascinating history that came from such fast transportation innovation and growth.
Amtrak is a major sponsor of National Train Day and is hosting star-studded, activity-filled events at several of the nation's biggest train stations. Rosario Dawson, who starred in the film Unstoppable, is serving as this year's event celebrity spokesman. Other tourist railroads and train stations are hosting events as well and the National Train Day website will help you find an activity near you.
