Tune in at 11:30 p.m. PDT (7:30 a.m. GMT) to see a live feed of SpaceX’s Dragon capsule in low Earth orbit approaching the International Space Station. The event is a crucial second step as SpaceX works to become the first private U.S. company to dock with the station.

Dragon will be beginning its third day above the Earth after successfully launching in the wee hours of May 22. The craft has been performing orbital maneuvers to inch closer to the ISS, and should fly by 1.5 miles beneath the station at around 11:30 p.m. PDT. The two machines will pass important communication commands back and forth, establishing that the space station crew will have the ability to command Dragon when the time comes.

The spacecraft will then move 125 miles away from the ISS and come back in toward the station again. If all goes well, the ISS will reach out its robot arm and bring the Dragon capsule in to dock at 11 p.m. PDT on May 24. Be sure to check back here for further live coverage of that event.
