This past July at Nerdapalooza I got to see the geek-pop rock group I Fight Dragons perform live on stage, and even filmed some of it. While that was exciting, what's more exciting is seeing this group continue to succeed in a sea of cookie cutter pop rock that permeates the airwaves these days. The geeks truly shall inherit the Earth, that much is clear.
Getting ready to play the Vans Warped Tour, I Fight Dragons has taken some time to film and release another new, and very geeky video. Last week the video for Save World, Get Girl (from their debut album KABOOM! was released in 3D on the Nintendo 3DS network. This week they release the 2D version for the rest of us non-DS-owning geeks to enjoy. GeekDad Z (@hipsterplease) was kind enough to enjoy the hell out of the 3D video and send me his synopsis:
I concur. There's really not too much more to add. The video is a mix between classic Star Trek, Red Dwarf and Ice Pirates. You really can't go wrong when it comes to geeky sci-fi kitsch. Actually, the video reminds me of any episode of Community where Abed has a space adventure in his dreamatorium. You can't helped but be genuinely amused and entertained at the same time. "Save World Get Girl" is an adventure though space and imagination, set to a catchy 8-bit infused rock soundtrack. Game on.
