The stunning new trailer for Samsara offers a tantalizing peek at the dozens of exotic locations visited by the filmmakers in their quest to capture the "ever turning wheel of life" on Earth.
Director Ron Fricke and producer Mark Magidson, who previously worked together on Baraka and Chronos, traveled around the world capturing their captivating time-lapse imagery in 70mm format.
Here's the description from the movie's website:
"Samsara takes the form of a nonverbal, guided meditation that will transform viewers in countries around the world as they are swept along a journey of the soul. Through powerful images pristinely photographed in 70mm and a dynamic music score, the film illuminates the links between humanity and the rest of the nature, showing how our life cycle mirrors the rhythm of the planet."
Fricke worked as director of photography on 1982 film Koyaanisqatsi, another non-narrative documentary that blew audiences away with its slow-motion and time-lapse footage.
Samsara opens theatrically Aug. 24 in the United States.
