The digital artist used a new app called muro on deviantArt. You can watch every brushstroke in the creation of a portrait.
The things that stood out were how many times the artist redid the same spot, or put colors in that at first seemed nonsensical. The flipping of the orientation, the constant erasing...I'm sure any art student will love to watch. Be sure to use Artist Mode to see the exact tools used.
