Attention hardware hackers, modders, and makers of all things awesome: Wired has a new online home for DIY product design, and it's Gadget Lab's new best friend.

Under the leadership of former ReadyMade editor-in-chief Shoshana Berger, Wired Design launched Thursday with an eye-popping assortment of projects, crafts and clever creations.

From a photo gallery profiling the top 10 maker schools, to a news piece on how NASA is tapping the brain power of design students, to a quasi-Q&A in which "Fake Jonny Ive" interviews the inscrutable Xfinity DVR remote (yes, an imaginary man interviewing an inanimate object), Wired Design serves up the most interesting projects, people and memes from the nexus of DIY culture and product design.

“The tools and resources now at our fingertips are fueling radical growth in the maker movement, and heightening our demand for elegant, personalized products,” says Berger, “Wired Design will uncover the amazing projects that are being launched every day -- hello, Kickstarter! -- and show how easy it is to tap into the designer in all of us.”

Indeed, Wired's new section also includes step-by-step how-tos -- like this tutorial on slip-cast ceramics. So don't waste time, gadget fans: Head straight to Wired Design, and dive right into the vanguard of DIY.
