When a Dragon Moves In (written by Jodi Moore and illustrated by Howard McWilliam)--This book was read to my daughter's Kindergarten class. Fifteen children liked the story, one sort of liked it, and two didn't like it at all. The story and illustrations work well together to tell a simple story of friendship, imagination, and childhood.

A boy builds the perfect sandcastle while on a trip with his family to the beach. A dragon moves into the castle and makes seemingly normal beach activities into mini-magnificent adventures. The stylistic art draws the reader into the adventures with our characters as the boy’s family thinks his antics were performed solely by him. The art is nothing short of amazing and complements the story beautifully. *When a Dragon Moves In *is available on Amazon for $10.33.

I Need My Monster (written by Amanda Noll and illustrated by Howard McWilliam) is a story about routine and not settling for less. No, really. When our boy goes to bed and finds his monster has gone fishing, there is no substitute for drool and claws to keep a boy in bed! Again, the illustrations of Howard McWilliam accompany the story beautifully and help the narrative flow. *I Need My Monster *is available on Amazon for $10.98.

Pobble's Way (written by Simon Van Booy and illustrated by Wendy Edelson) is a cute little story of a little girl who takes a wintertime walk with her dad. When she loses something along the way, the forest animals take over the story, guessing the purpose of the lost item.

For a short children's story, it was refreshing for this one to have multiple parts. There are some big words in this story but they are not over-used. The artwork is beautiful from cover to cover and is reminiscent of reading a Beatrix Potter book. Pobble's Way is 32 pages of story telling that left me wanting to pick up my knitting needles to make the little pom-pom hat Pobble was wearing. This book would be great for a Kindergartner through second grader, especially one that is interested in fictional stories about nature and animals. Pobble's Way is available for $13.22 on Amazon.

It is really hard to get me excited about books, but these three books caught my attention and are intriguing to look at and read with my kids. My daughter couldn't wait for me to finish reviewing them and taking pictures of them so she could snag them for her collection.
