The new Japanese trailer for The Amazing Spider-Man goes a little deeper into Peter Parker's conflict with his father's former partner, Dr. Curt Connors (aka The Lizard).
Actually, it goes really deep – check out that gash on Peter Parker's chest in the clip (above), which surfaced over the weekend.
"Thanks to you Peter, everything changed," Dr. Connors (played by Rhys Ifans) intones ominously in the trailer. "Ready to play god?"
Apparently, Peter Parker (Andrew Garfield) is ready to play Spider-Man, whipping around the city at break-neck speed, mostly in footage that's been around since the last Spidey trailer was released back in February. We again see him scaling up to the window of Gwen Stacy (Emma Stone), for example.
Still, this little taste of the darker side of Dr. Connors – he really does seem more genial in the U.S. trailer, doesn't he? – is enough to remind fans that the web-slinger is coming. The Amazing Spider-Man, directed by Marc Webb, hits theaters July 3.
