Flickr user Si-MOCs has created 3 awesome scenes in Lego that depict Asimov's three laws of robotics. I'm impressed with this on a few levels, but most of all as a fan of Asimov's writings. Anything that might encourage someone to pick up the Robot series is good in my opinion.
For the uninitiated, the three laws are:
- A robot may not injure a human being or, through inaction, allow a human being to come to harm.
- A robot must obey the orders given to it by human beings, except where such orders would conflict with the First Law.
- A robot must protect its own existence as long as such protection does not conflict with the First or Second Laws.
I think it is safe to say that all three rules have been trampled by the robots currently at work on Earth, but ours are not sentient, yet. There is hope we can implement these laws before Skynet becomes self aware.
