It's Marvel superhero overload in the new poster for The Avengers.

After The Artist cleaned up at the Academy Awards last weekend, it's likely that director Michel Hazanavicius' throwback to the days of silent films will influence filmmakers. If you're curious what it might look like if Joss Whedon took that cue for his upcoming superhero team-up The Avengers, look no further than the black-and-white parody trailer above.

It's quite amazing how good those car explosions look in this antiqued clip, made by Rated Comedy (Australia's No. 1 site for Australian comedy!) and uploaded to YouTube last fall. It's also great to see the names of the Avengers old-ified: Strong man of Shield (Captain America), Strong man of Hammer (Thor), Strong man of Iron (Iron Man, duh) and Strong man of Woman (Black Widow, aka "To the Kitchen with you!" LuLz.)

Honestly, even though we're beyond psyched for The Avengers, which hits theaters May 4, we've got to say that this parody trailer got us more excited than the official movie one-sheet released Tuesday (see it below). The poster basically looks like what would happen if all the principle actors put their own personal spins on Zoolander poses.

What do you think? Are we being too harsh, or would you rather watch this spoof trailer than look at the new poster, too? Hit the comments and let us know.
