Last night, Matt Smith proposed to his long term girlfriend and Doctor Who fan Stacie-Anne Dilkes at the Doctor Who Experience in London; but before you get yourself in a fluster, no, it's not that Matt Smith.
The 22 year old from Essex shares the same name as the actor currently portraying the Doctor and managed to get some help from BBC Worldwide to plan the proposal. Stacie believed she was visiting London for a shopping trip when she visited the attraction. Matt, dressed in a bow tie and tweed jacket, pretended to be an exhibit in a section of the Experience where guests can see original props, costumes and monsters from the show. He stunned his girlfriend by appearing and bending down on one knee - happily, she said yes (who wouldn't?)
Matt Smith (the actor this time) was in on the surprise and sent the couple a personal message of congratulations, commenting that:
If you want to go and see where it all took place, asI did last summer, the Doctor Who Experience is in its final three weeks at it's current London home, having been there for a year. It will soon move and re-open its doors in Cardiff where the show is filmed.
