Really, do I need to say more? Check out yet another awesome slow motion air bag video from Jeffery Yap and Michael Belling.
Why don't you use this as an opportunity to brush up on your video analysis skills. Let me give you some tips:
- How do you even get the video? Personally, I use the Google Chrome YouTube Downloader extension. There are lots of things like this. It really isn't an issue anymore.
- Use either Tracker Video Analysis (free) or Logger Pro (from Vernier) to get the data from the video.
- Look at the comments on the youtube page. There is some good stuff there. In particular: bowling ball mass = 12 pounds, there is a meter stick (that has a length of 1 meter) on the ground next to the airbag, the video is at 420 frames per second.
This is great video to start with. Nice and interesting motion with a stationary camera = winning. If you want some questions, you could ask:
- How high?
- How fast?
- What was the force on the bowling ball?
- How much energy stored in the air bag explosion?
- If you sat on the air bag (which you TOTALLY should not do), how high would you go?
Actually, now that I think about it I probably would just give the video to a class and let them ask their own questions. You know, like Dan Meyer's #anyqs.
