In the latest snippet from The Amazing Spider-Man, Peter Parker makes a heroic attempt to ... wait for it ... get past Gwen Stacy's doorman!

Since this scene from director Marc Webb's movie occurs during the more hapless early days of our young hero (played by the growing-more-endearing-every-second Andrew Garfield), Peter fails to gain entrance. And even though the clip – coming on the heels of the Mark of the Spider-Man graffiti campaign – is sorely lacking in action, it does reveal a little more of what Garfield will be bringing to Marvel's web-slinger.

The new clip, embedded above, offers a nice tease of the "more realistic, naturalistic" Spider-Man that Webb promised when new footage was shown to fans and press earlier this month. The brief scene presumably will be followed in the film by Peter/Spidey climbing up the fire escape to reach Stacy (Emma Stone), as seen in the most recent trailer.

That's all well and good, but from us to you Marc Webb, next time give us some Lizard (Rhys Ifans) or some Stone. Summer is just too far away.

The Amazing Spider-Man hits theaters July 3.
