Like many of you, I have bag problems. Specifically, I have have enough bags to fill a small closet: Camera bags, iPad cases, courier bags and panniers. But if my first purchase in the search for the perfect "everything bag" had been the ONE bag, then I might have a little more cupboard space today.
The ONE is almost absurdly flexible, without adding any complexity. As a laptop bag, it is little more than a neoprene sleeve with a removable padded bumper at the bottom, a shoulder strap and a lid flap with some pockets inside. And by "little more" I mean it has a front section with slim pockets for a phone and an iPad and a rear pocket for papers.
But then it starts to transform. The flap/cover is removable, attached by a double Velcro sandwich, and can be swapped out for extra covers to match your outfit. Then there's the camera insert, which attaches to Velcro strips inside the lips of the bag and features cross-braces to create three separate sections for cameras and lenses.
The ONE is joined by smaller two-lens bag called the Waist Shooter. This holds a couple of lenses and can either hook onto your belt or be slung over your shoulder with the removable strap. Here's the absurdly handsome inventor Justin Lin showing them off:
The bags are currently kicking up a storm on Kickstarter, where they have already reached $7,500 of their $10,000 goal. The ONE can be had for a pledge of $65 (retail price $89) and the Waist Shooter for $39 (retail $69). The full-on ONE, with inserts for everything, costs $79 (retail $129). Even the Lady says I can buy one. As long as I toss out at least five bags first.
