GarageBand for iPad is an impressive feat of miniaturization, but NanoStudio does Apple one better, cramming everything you'd expect from a digital audio workstation — synths, a sampler, a sequencer — onto the iPhone with a surprisingly usable interface.

WIRED Instrument presets include screeching electric guitars, warm basses, and synths for every mood. Finished tracks sound full and rich.

TIRED Recording limited to six tracks. Vocal samples limited to 90 seconds.
