Building gingerbread houses during the holidays has been a tradition for hundreds of years, although it is one that has not been taken up all that enthusiastically here in the UK. Earlier this week Ruth and Ellen posted up some fantastic gingerbread superheroes and an amazing AT-AT, but if you're looking for something different, maybe you could consider building one of these sweet creations.
If you're more Trek than Wars, this gingerbread Starship Enterprise might be more up your street. Bake it so...
Looking for the sweetest ship in the 'verse? Then the gingerbread SerenityGeekDad featured last year is the boat for you. Creator Kristoffer Gressli and his brother also posted a series of pictures during its construction on their Facebook page.
The Norwegian brothers responsible for Serenity have also created the Tower of Orthanc that stands in the center of Isengard.
Livejournal userstherru and pnr created a gingerbread TARDIS way back on Christmas Eve, 2006, and what's even better is that they provided astep-by-step guideover at Crafty Tardis so that you can make one, too (including a recipe for the gingerbread, itself, and measurements for each piece of the TARDIS).
If you have quite a bit more time going spare over the holidays, then maybe you could consider taking on a project like the guys over at the very-frequently-NSFW Miss(ed) Manners. This group have been recreating famous battles from Tolkien's works out of gingerbread and candy. Above is The Battle of Pelennor Fields from Christmas 2007, and they have also built scenes around The Battle of Helm's Deep, the Mines of Moria, and Smaug the Magnificent.
