Challenge Based Learning - Resilience from Adam Brice on Vimeo.

This clip is a little longer than usual. It is about a project at a suburban school in Victoria, Australia. But, if you have an interest in how we can engage our children to be critical and engaged thinkers, who approach problems with a strong sense of purpose and value, then it is worth your time.

This is the work of Adam Brice, an amazing educator here in Australia. He had the opportunity to attend Apple's Challenge-Based Learning camp in the United States this year and engaged students aged 11 and 12 years in a big idea focused on "Resilience." This video captures the results. It shows children interviewing community service organizations over speaker phone, while taking notes on their iPads. It demonstrates learning environments where students help create the space and find the best ways for them to work. It captures children's enthusiasm for asking them to think of the big questions, and how to answer them.

It was recently awarded the title of "Number 1 Educational Video of 2011" by EdReach. It beat the likes of Ken Robinson and Mimi Ito. It deserves it.

Ultimately, this is education with heart. This is how schools ready children for the 21st century.
