Another day, another obsessive-compulsive power-socket post from your author. This time it's a timer, too. It's called the Dialug, and it lets you switch off the power even when you're not around to do it.
The concept design consists of a wall socket and Euro-style plug. Stick the prongs into the wall and then twist the plug itself, using the handle-ridge along its back. The plug clickety-clicks around, just like setting a kitchen timer, and then starts ticking back down to zero.
Thus you can set chargers to switch off so as not to suck a Vampire Draw when the gadget is done topping up, or you can just set a heater to switch off an hour after you head to bed.
The only problem is that you need a special plug for each item. Why bother rewiring everything when you could just buy a widely-available timer adapter? Still, it's in the running for an iF Concept Design award, and if gadget came with this built in, I'd certainly not complain.
