AirCassette is a cassette tape player for the iPhone. More correctly, it's an alternate music playing app which throws up a cute animation of a tape when music is playing.

Though the name, AirCassette, conjures up images of somebody rewinding an invisible cassette with an imaginary ballpoint pen, the moniker more likely comes from the app's AirPlay support. It also lets you create mix tapes (of course) and queue songs -- something the built-in music player still doesn't do.

You can choose from many, many classic tape designs. They're all slightly tweaked to avoid copyright infringements, but will be instantly familiar to people of a certain age.

Control is via swipe and touch. Tap the tape spindles to skip forward and back, tap the tape window to play/pause and swipe left or right to choose cassettes or enter the library.

And that's it. I'd be sold on this $2 app just for the retro tape skins, but it actually looks to be a pretty decent music player, too. Available now.
