Today in Great Tumblrs: Ryan Gosling Disneyland Cats

Ryan Gosling loves Disney (sorta). The internet loves cat blogs (pretty much). So when great-actor-disguised-as-heartthrob Gosling mentioned in an interview that he heard Disneyland might be breeding “commando cats,” it was only a matter of time before the web took the weird mix and ran with it.

The finish line of that sprint is known as Ryan Gosling Disneyland Cats — a Tumblr blog of Disneyland photographs mashed up with photos of, yes, Gosling and kittehs (see above).

The blog is similar in concept to meme-tastic single-topic blog Selleck Waterfall Sandwich. However, the website’s creators claim to be inspired by “the one and only beaarthurmountainspizza except featuring that hunkasaurus Ryan Gosling … oh, and cats.”

The concept originates from an appearance the Drive actor made on Conan O’Brien’s late-night talk show. During the interview (video below) Gosling mentioned that “there is a belief that Disney has been breeding an army of cats. Yes. And they’re not just ordinary cats. They have a special set of skills. They’re like commando cats.”

Gosling went on to explain that (allegedly) the main purpose of the cats was to come into the park at night to eat the rodents. “The thing that’s so messed up about it … is that the whole empire of Disney is built on the back of one mouse,” he said.

The rest is cats-on-the-internet history. Ryan Gosling Disneyland Cats may not be as thought-provoking as Feminist Ryan Gosling, but it is a little more cuddly.
