Major cable providers Comcast and Verizon will funnel their TV programming through the Xbox 360 soon, according to a Bloomberg report:

Microsoft, based in Redmond, Washington, is in talks with almost two dozen providers of music, sports, movies and TV shows in the U.S. and Europe, and may announce an expanded Xbox Live streaming service as soon as next week... The new applications from Philadelphia-based Comcast’s Xfinity TV service and New York-based Verizon’s FiOs would require users to prove they already are pay-TV customers in regions where the services operate...

Microsoft said in no uncertain terms at E3 in June that TV was coming to Xbox 360 in short order, but didn't go into any specifics on which cable services would sign on or how it would work.

As we said at the time, this is a big deal. We're already constantly booting up our Xbox 360s just to watch Netflix; imagine what happens when it also becomes the hub for all of your DVR'ed television shows.
